 莫妮卡即将结婚，为了争首席伴娘瑞秋和菲比决定一较高下；钱德勒中学因为肥胖甩了当时的女友，莫妮卡害怕自己之后身材走样被嫌弃，于是“逼迫”钱德勒给人家道歉；乔伊和罗斯喝醉酒后靠在沙发上睡着了，两人的感觉很“奇妙”。

　　纽约全城停电。钱德碰巧被困在一间24小时ATM自助服务厅里，名模吉儿碰巧也被困当中。 钱德有心无胆，空欢喜一场。其余五人呆在莫妮卡和瑞秋家。丑陋裸男点了很多蜡烛。罗斯决心向瑞秋表白时遭到一只猫的攻击。瑞秋和菲比替猫找寻主人，遇到怪人海先生(他将在今后的剧集中出现)。他声称他就是猫的主人，但显然他在撒谎。原来猫的主人叫保路，是这栋楼里居住的意大利大块头男人，他不大会讲英语。瑞秋和保路一见钟情，打得火热。
第8集 外婆死了两次
　　钱德发现他给人们的第一印象通常是同性恋，他试图找出原因。保路从罗马给瑞秋打来电话并给她买鞋。罗斯和莫妮卡的祖母死了……两次。在葬礼上，乔伊通过一台便携式电视观看球赛；罗斯失足掉进了一个坟坑，伤到背部。 莫妮卡难以应付母亲的挑剔。
